Radiofrequency (RF) mole removal uses a precise current delivered through a loop electrode to target moles, removing them layer by layer. This modern technology has several advantages over traditional scalpel methods:

Cosmetic mole removal is suitable if the mole:

  • Is regular in shape, colour, and border.
  • Hasn’t changed recently.
  • Has been present for as long as you can remember.
  • Is raised and fleshy.
  • Doesn’t itch, bleed, or turn into a sore that doesn’t heal.
  • Shows no suspicious features under a dermatoscope.
  • $399 for the first mole, lump, or bump.
  • $149 for each additional one.
  • For intimate areas: $550 for the first and $199 for each extra one.

No, Medicare doesn’t cover mole removals done for cosmetic reasons. If we suspect a mole might be cancerous, we’ll refer you to your GP or dermatologist for further checks.

You need to be 18 years or older for cosmetic mole removal.

  • You’ll be welcomed by our reception staff and fill out a medical form.
  • Our doctor will assess your mole to decide if removal is suitable.
  • If approved, the doctor will explain the procedure, risks, and benefits before you sign a consent form.
  • Local anaesthetic will be applied to numb the area, and the mole will be carefully removed using a radiofrequency device.
  • After the procedure, you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions.

The local anaesthetic may sting for 2-5 seconds, but the procedure is generally painless. Once the anaesthetic wears off, most people feel little to no discomfort.

The risk of noticeable scarring is low—less than 5% on the face and under 10% on the body. For individuals prone to abnormal scarring, the risk may be higher.

  • Keep the area covered with a Duo-Derm dressing for the first 7 days.
  • Change the dressing daily and apply antibiotic ointment (Chlorsig).
  • Avoid sun exposure and follow aftercare instructions for the best results.
  • Light walking is fine the next day, but avoid strenuous activity for 4-7 days.
  • Keep the dressing on and avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week. Use sunscreen to protect the area during healing.

Makeup can usually be applied two weeks after mole removal once the area has healed.

  • Radiofrequency: Removes the mole layer by layer with minimal scarring.
  • Cryotherapy: Freezes the mole but isn’t ideal for cosmetic purposes due to scarring risks.
  • CO2 Laser: Works for small, flat moles but may require multiple sessions.
